2015 NFL Mock Draft 3.0 – Separation Between Winston and Mariota

5 Mar

After the season ended and in the first versions of the mock draft, it was a solid lock on picks one and two with QBs Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota.

As the NFL Combine is complete, and team needs have become more clear, it no longer appears that the two top quarterbacks will go number one and two.

With the complete draft order not yet released, the mock draft will still be three rounds deep (first 96 picks).

First 2015 NFL Mock Draft

21 Jan

With the NFL taking the week off before Super Bowl XLIX (the Pro Bowl does not count), it is time for the first Mock Draft of the season.

Believe it or not, all but two teams are looking ahead to the 2015 NFL Draft.  Even with that, New England and Seattle probably have one eye towards it too.

This mock draft is the first of several that will come out.  This first one covers the first 96 picks.  The only picks not definite are the last two, which depend on the outcome of the Super Bowl.  You can take a sneak peek at who I am picking for it too.

Florida State QB Jameis Winston is my number one pick, going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  While his off-the-field behavior is not as great as Oregon QB Marcus Mariota, Winston is better suited to being plugged into a pro-style offense.

2014 NFL Mock Draft 3.0: Predictions for all 7 Rounds

26 Mar

With all of the picks being announced at this week’s NFL Owners’ Meetings, it is time for the first complete mock draft.

Staying in line with the previous two mock drafts, QB Johnny Manziel remains the No. 1 overall pick to Houston.  For a team needing a quarterback, the Texans cannot afford to pass on the electric athlete who has always played his home games in Texas.

This is much the same reason why Jacksonville should take UCF QB Blake Bortles at No. 3.  Bortles is also from the state of Florida, and it is as important of a business decision to select him.

The undisputed top available athlete, DE Jadeveon Clowney, slips to Atlanta at No. 6.  Clowney is very impressive on the field, but closer review of game tape and the questioning of his dedication to the game will play a role on draft day.

This mock draft does not account for trades.  If it did, if Clowney is still available through three picks, someone will trade.  Moreover, Houston might be in a position to take Manziel, while trading away the top pick.

Lastly, any likenesses to the professionals who earn money making mock drafts is purely coincidental.  If you share, please give credit to where credit is due.  The next mock draft will come up closer to the NFL Draft.

2014 NFL Mock Draft: Manziel goes No. 1

7 Feb

Here it is, as promised, the first NFL mock draft.  This first edition is only the first round, but as picks in further rounds get finalized, the mock draft will grow to include all seven rounds.

Presently, Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel is my number one pick, going to the Houston Texans.  Houston needs a quarterback, plus it would be a huge boost to select a dynamic talent like Manziel, who was born in, and went to school in Texas.

A couple of notes:

  • Picks 16 and 17 are subject to a coin flip at a later date.
  • This mock draft was not copied from anywhere, and is created on my own.  Any likenesses to mock drafts done by the professionals, is purely coincidental.
  • Finally, if you care to share, please give credit to where credit is due.
