College Football Week 13 Picks

19 Nov

Hard to believe it is down to the final two or three games for most schools.  Many conferences are too close to call in the final month.

Still not sold that this selection committee is right for college football.  I didn’t truly have a problem with the BCS.  If only they could have morphed both into a playoff type system.

Last Week:  12-7 (.632)

Overall:  242-64 (.791)

#12 Kansas State vs. West Virginia (Thursday night in Morgantown seems perfect for an upset.)

North Carolina vs. Duke

Western Carolina vs. #1 Alabama

Colorado vs. #2 Oregon

Boston College vs. #3 Florida State

Vanderbilt vs. #4 Mississippi State

Indiana vs. #6 Ohio State

Oklahoma State vs. #7 Baylor

Charleston Southern vs. #10 Georgia

Rutgers vs. #11 Michigan State

Washington State vs. #13 Arizona State

Samford vs. #14 Auburn

#20 Missouri vs. Tennessee

Kansas vs. #21 Oklahoma

Georgia State vs. #22 Clemson

South Alabama vs. South Carolina

College Football Week 6 Picks

30 Sep

It’s week six of the 2014 College Football season, which is significant for one reason: a team could become bowl eligible this week.

However, most teams will accomplish that feat in the next few weeks, as only Texas A&M and Nebraska have five wins and play this week.  A new set of bowl projections will come out next week.

Last Week:  21-5 (.808)

Overall:  126-22 (.851)

Arizona vs. #2 Oregon

Louisville vs. Syracuse

Utah State vs. #18 BYU

Wake Forest vs. #1 Florida State

#3 Alabama vs. #11 Ole Miss (Ole Miss is a nice story, but I don’t think they measure up against Alabama.)

#4 Oklahoma vs. #25 TCU

#15 LSU vs. #5 Auburn

#6 Texas A&M vs. #12 Mississippi State (See comment about Alabama vs. Ole Miss and apply here.)

#7 Baylor vs. Texas

Utah vs. #8 UCLA

#14 Stanford vs. #9 Notre Dame

#19 Nebraska vs. #10 Michigan State

Vanderbilt vs. #13 Georgia

Arizona State vs. #16 USC

#17 Wisconsin vs. Northwestern

#20 Ohio State vs. Maryland (Maybe this is where Maryland gets their true welcome to the Big Ten Conference.)

Iowa State vs. #21 Oklahoma State

SMU vs. #22 East Carolina (This is probably the only top-25 team, pretty much assured of a win.)

Texas Tech vs. #23 Kansas State

Virginia Tech vs. North Carolina (The Tar Heels can’t stop anybody.)

NC State vs. Clemson

Miami (FL) vs. Georgia Tech

Pittsburgh vs. Virginia

Florida vs. Tennessee (With two teams evenly matched, got to go with the home team.)

South Carolina vs. Kentucky (It’s been awhile since the Gamecocks were included with the non-top-25 teams from the SEC.)

Arkansas vs. #17 LSU

Alabama State vs. Kentucky

College Football Week 8 Picks

17 Oct

Last week was clearly upset Saturday across college football.  It will be a rebound week for several teams, but could also become upset Saturday part two.

Arkansas vs. #1 Alabama

Washington State vs. #2 Oregon

Iowa State vs. #12 Baylor

College Football Week 4 Picks

19 Sep

Last week had some marquee match-ups, but this week, it’s back to easy tune-up games as teams head into their conference schedules.

Last Week:  24-3 (.889)

Overall:  85-12 (.876)

#3 Clemson vs. NC State (This might be a trap game for Clemson, since North Carolina State has a knack for pulling upsets at home to top ranked team.  It would really stall the Tigers, a favorite of the poll voters, climb to #1.)

Colorado State vs. #1 Alabama

Florida A&M vs. #4 Ohio State

#23 Arizona State vs. #5 Stanford (The only game between ranked opponents.)

Auburn vs. #6 LSU (This will be the first time we will really be able to measure Auburn and the Gus Malzahn factor.)

North Texas vs. #9 Georgia

SMU vs. #10 Texas A&M

New Mexico State vs. #13 UCLA

#15 Michigan vs. Connecticut

Savannah State vs. #16 Miami (FL)

Idaho State vs. #17 Washington

Maine vs. #18 Northwestern

Tennessee vs. #19 Florida (Home-field advantage wins it for Florida.  If this one was in Knoxville, I’d take the upset.)

Louisiana-Monroe vs. #20 Baylor

Michigan State vs. #22 Notre Dame

Purdue vs. #24 Wisconsin

Texas State vs. #25 Texas Tech

North Carolina vs. Georgia Tech

Marshall vs. Virginia Tech

Wake Forest vs. Army

Pittsburgh vs. Duke (This would be a great basketball game, but it’s football.)

Tulane vs. Syracuse

West Virginia vs. Maryland

VMI vs. Virginia

Vanderbilt vs. Massachusetts

Arkansas vs. Rutgers

Troy vs. Mississippi State

Missouri vs. Indiana (This too, would be a great basketball game, but again, we’re talking football.)
